Are there membership fees?
Currently, we are not asking that a membership fee be paid.
Will I have to buy vegetables I don't want?
Unlike some co-ops, buying clubs, or CSAs where everyone gets the same box of stuff (and you don’t know what you’re getting until you get it), with Locally Grown you get to order what you want, in the quantities that you want, from the farms that you want. The weekly email lists the products available that week, and you can browse the items on this website before you place your order.
How do I order?
Each Sunday, a list of available products is sent to all of our registered customers by e-mail. Customers must place their order for the week no later than Tuesday at midnight. Orders can be placed here on our website http://deforest.locallygrown.net. Ordering through this web site is our preferred method as it is designed to reduce the amount of time it takes us to process orders as well as provide you with detailed information about our products.
You can cancel your order without additional charge if you do so before the Market closes (Midnight on Tuesday). Cancelations must be emailed to Farmer@forestrunfarm.com by Tuesday at Midnight to avoid charges. If you do not cancel and do not pick up, you will be charged for your order. If something comes up and you realize you cannot make it to the farm by 6:00, send a friend.
When do I pay?
We accept cash or checks when you pick up your order. Because we may have to adjust your total then (to account for unannounced items you decide to purchase or items that were unexpectedly unavailable), we do not have online payment options on the website.
Forest Run Farm will accept Farmer’s Market Nutrition Program Vouchers for their produce only. When ordering, be sure that you are selecting items grown by Forest Run Farm if you want to use these FMNP vouchers.
For Forest Run Farm—Farm Stand CSA members: Your credit will be used for Forest Run Farm produce, any other items from Forest Run Farm and all items from other Farms will need to be paid for with cash or check at the time of pick up.
When and Where do I pick up my order?
During the Regular season (May-Sept) pick up times will be from 3 -6 pm on Friday, customers can pick-up their produce at Forest Run Farm 3757 Mueller Road, DeForest, WI. Bring a reusable tote to pack your purchases into. Please respect the closing time and arrive with plenty of time to make additional purchases and pack up your produce. Keep your pets in the car or they are welcome to walk on leash along the driveway; do not bring them into the Market Area where produce is on display. Early and late season (including April and October-November) pick up will be shortened to 3:00-5:00pm on Friday with alternate pick up times available. Please check on the WEBLOG page each week to see the current pick up times.
You can cancel your order without additional charge if you do so before the Market closes (Midnight on Tuesday). Cancellations must be emailed to Farmer@forestrunfarm.com by Tuesday at Midnight to avoid charges. Since the growers harvested just for you, and (more importantly) since we pay the growers on your behalf, you are still responsible for paying for items that have not been cancelled. If you do not pick up, we’ll charge your account, and that amount will get added to your next order if you do not cancel in a timely manner.
If something comes up and you realize you cannot make your pickup, please send a friend.
Why Support Locally Grown?
Enhance your local economy: By purchasing produce and other items from local growers you are providing stability to your local economy through the support of local businesses.
Save natural resources: Buying locally makes you an invaluable link in the process of saving resources such as fossil fuels and packaging materials. Also, we are right here in your community so the expense of transportation and delivery is kept to a minimum.
Provide learning opportunities: Locally Grown supporters provide member growers the means to help educate our community about the importance of sustainable agriculture.
Supporting a way of life: The number of small farms in the United States has decreased dramatically in the last decade. Please help us preserve an honest and worthy means of making a living.
We believe that small, diverse, family-owned farms contribute to society’s overall health.
How can I sell through this market?
If you’ve already created a customer account here, simply go to Our Growers and click on ‘Join this Market’. This will add you to our system and our market managers will contact you with the next step. We currently do not charge an annual fee, but we do charge a 7% market fee of your overall sales. Like at a traditional farmers’ market, you do get to set your own prices and list your items as you wish. Contact farmer@forestrunfarm.com if you want more information.
Oh No! I have an emergency and can't make it to pick up. What do I do?
Well, I’m sorry we missed you.
If you are unable to arrive during the Market Pick up hours, please have arrangements with a friend to make your pick up. If you can not arrange a pick up, you must call or email with a message to arrange pick up Saturday morning. All orders remaining after Saturday morning will be donated!
Since the growers harvested just for you, and (more importantly) since we pay the growers on your behalf, you are still responsible for paying for items, even if you do not pick them up. We’ll charge your account, and that amount will get added to your next order.
