Nothing says spring like fresh asparagus! Asparagus likes warmth and water in early spring to get started. Then it is important that it gets plenty of water. I prefer it steamed with some butter and seasonings. Don't overcook it, or even let it sit too long after steaming it. The color should be a beautiful green when you eat it.

Broccoli Raab is actually more related to the turnip than to Broccoli. Due to its bitter taste and fibrous stalk it is generally not served raw, but all parts of the bunch are eatable. Used as is a cooking green it can be chopped and sauted with garlic or ginger. Goes great on those toasted fall sandwhiches. A bunch is 6 to 8 oz.
